Last week we were joined by our partners the Construction Youth Trust on-site at our Cambridge House project, Piccadilly.
The Construction Youth Trust supports young people whose journey to work can be challenging due to barriers relating to their financial circumstances, lack of awareness of opportunities in the industry, low self-esteem, gender or ethnicity. By helping individuals to gain training & employment the Trust’s work effectively tackles social exclusion and related disadvantages.
The group of nine spent the day at the Grade I listed former townhouse built in the mid-18th century, gaining first-hand experience of the complex redevelopment project including a full induction, site tour and presentations from key members of the project team all in a live working environment.
Georgina Corbett (School and Programmes Intern) from Construction Youth Trust noted “The Deconstruct (UK) Ltd's site visit was engaging, informative and well organised. The young people benefitted hugely from hearing from a variety of people from different roles, giving an insight into what opportunities there are in construction and the different routes into the industry. We had positive feedback from all the young people who attended. We can’t thank Helen Collarbone and her colleagues enough for hosting such a great day for our NEET young people.“
